The Former Governor of the Bank of Canada, Stephen Poloz, will be speaking at the next meeting of the Ottawa Numismatic Society on May 29.
The meeting will be held at Ben Franklin Place, Room 1-A, 101 Centrepoint Drive in Ottawa and virtually through Zoom. The meeting will start at 7:30 p.m.
Governor Poloz will be speaking on “how we got to where we are,” a discussion of the current state of the economy followed by a Q & A session.
This will be a unique opportunity to hear directly from Mr. Poloz about a range of topics including interest rates, inflation, wages, real estate, demographic changes, etc. There may also be some talk of bank notes, including the 2017 commemorative note and the introduction of the Viola Desmond $10.
Those in attendance will have the opportunity to have bank notes signed by the Governor (as long as they have his printed signature on them) or his recently published book, The Next Age of Uncertainty.
The link to the Zoom meeting will be posted on the website of the Ottawa Numismatic Society a few days before the meeting. [$♫]
L’ancien gouverneur à la SNO
L’ancien gouverneur de la Banque du Canada, Stephen Poloz, prendra la parole lors de la prochaine réunion de la Société de numismatique d’Ottawa, le 29 mai.
La réunion se tiendra à la Place Ben Franklin, salle 1-A, 101, promenade Centrepoint, à Ottawa, et se déroulera virtuellement par l’entremise de Zoom. La réunion débutera à 19 h 30.
Le gouverneur Poloz s’exprimera sur le thème « comment nous en sommes arrivés là », une discussion sur l’état actuel de l’économie suivie d’une séance de questions-réponses.
Ce sera une occasion unique d’entendre directement M. Poloz sur une série de sujets tels que les taux d’intérêt, l’inflation, les salaires, l’immobilier, les changements démographiques, etc. Il pourrait également être question des billets de banque, notamment du billet commémoratif de 2017 et de l’introduction du billet de 10 dollars Viola Desmond.
Les participants auront la possibilité de se faire dédicacer des billets de banque par le gouverneur (à condition qu’ils portent sa signature imprimée) ou son livre récemment publié, The Next Age of Uncertainty.
