The J. Douglas Historical Research Foundation will be presenting, for the second time, an Authors’ Alley at the upcoming RCNA convention in Halifax. This offers these numismatists who have spent countless hours of research and writing a rare chance to share their passion with other collectors and numismatists.

The following authors will be present from time to time during the convention.

Lorne Barnes is presenting his recently released 808-page reference Trade Tokens of Ontario, a much-desired update to the 1972 second edition of Fred Bowman’s work on the subject.

The husband-and-wife team of Carol and Raymond Gregory will happily discuss their two-volume work, Numismatic History of Canada and the United States, which traces the history of the two countries through coins, medals, and token issued between 1774 and 2009.

Nova Scotia numismatist Eric Leighton will offer his definitive guide, The Trade Tokens of Newfoundland and Labrador & Prince Edward Island.

Best known for his defining series of catalogues on Canadian municipal trade tokens, Serge Pelletier will be offering his latest publication Numismatics for Everyone, the result of some 25 years of research and compilation. A bilingual (English/French) alphabetic encyclopædic dictionary designed to appeal equally to collectors, students, researchers, and general readers at every level, from beginner to expert.

Finally, Rob Turner will be presenting his latest book on the Victorian cent, Past & Nearly Perfect, which explores the pattern, trial, proof, and specimen large cents coined by The Royal Mint, Heaton, and the Ottawa Mint between 1857 and 1920.

Auteurs présents à Halifax

La J. Douglas Historical Research Foundation présentera, pour la deuxième fois, une allée des auteurs lors du prochain congrès de l’ARNC à Halifax. Ces numismates qui ont consacré d’innombrables heures à la recherche et à l’écriture auront ainsi une rare occasion de partager leur passion avec d’autres collectionneurs et numismates.

Les auteurs suivants seront présents de temps à autre pendant le congrès.

Lorne Barnes présentera sa récente publication de plus de 800 pages intitulée Trade Tokens of Ontario, une mise à jour très attendue de la deuxième édition de l’ouvrage de Fred Bowman sur le sujet publiée en 1972.

Les époux Carol et Raymond Gregory seront heureux de parler de leur ouvrage en deux volumes, Numismatic History of Canada and the United States, qui retrace l’histoire des deux pays à travers les monnaies, les médailles et les jetons émis entre 1774 et 2009.

Connu pour sa série de catalogues sur les jetons municipaux canadiens, Serge Pelletier présentera sa plus récente publication, La numismatique pour tous, fruit de quelque 25 années de recherche et de compilation. Ce dictionnaire encyclopédique bilingue (anglais/français) s’adresse aussi bien aux collectionneurs qu’aux étudiants, aux chercheurs et au grand public, collectionneurs de tous niveaux, du débutant à l’expert.

Enfin, Rob Turner présentera son dernier ouvrage sur la monnaie de 1 cent victorienne, Past & Nearly Perfect, qui explore les pièces, d’essai, d’épreuve et de spécimen frappées par la Monnaie royale, et par les ateliers de Heaton et d’Ottawa entre 1857 et 1920.
